It was released in PS4, X-box One, Microsoft Windows on May 14, 2019. A plague Tale: Innocence is played from a third person point of view. A plague Tale: Innocence is set on a 14th century plague-ridden France. The story follows the story of the main character Amicia and her sickly brother Hugo as they tried to survive in the world with just two of them as they tried to escape from the Inquisition who are trying to capture Hugo for some reason.
Plot
The story follows the story of the main character, Amicia De Rune, who is the daughter of a Nobleman Robert De Rune. The story starts with Amicia and her father Robert going through the forest with their Dog named Lion. They were discussing how her mother Beatrice, A talented Alchemist who is busy with always busy with her work and taking care of her sickly brother and didn’t have much time for Amicia with having her plates full with trying to find a cure for her 5-year-old brother.
While they talked Lion spots a large bore and Amicia used her stone sling to injure the animal, Lion gives chase to the bore leading to Amicia losing his track, After that he was killed by something coming off the underground. Robert saw this and tell Amicia to go to her mother and tell her of the strange phenomenon. This leads to Amicia meeting her brother Hugo. After a few days, a troop of Inquisition led by Lod Nicolas arrived at the De Rune estate and killed Lord Robert, the Lord of the town and De rune estate and continue his search for Hugo. After seeing this, Beatrice instructs Amicia to run away from the estate along with Hugo to his Doctor Laurentius, who is helping her in finding a cure for Hugo while she stays behind to give them ample amount of time to flee. Both the siblings flee through the forest while the guards give chase, they managed to flee when the same creature that had killed the lion, starts to attack the guards as well. This allows the siblings to escape through the river.
This sets the journey of Amicia and Hugo throughout medieval France to find the mystery of Hugo’s sickness and the plague while simultaneously evading the Inquisition guards who want Hugo for the mysterious purpose of their own, But one thing is that’s certified is that everything is related to one another, and the player had to find it for themselves.
Character description
There is a set of characters in the story that plays a major role in unraveling the mystery along with the story and join Amicia on her journey.
Amicia:- The Players plays as Amicia in their personal point of view, she is the daughter of Nobleman, and for some reason, the Inquisition guards are after her and her brother for something she doesn’t know anything about.
Hugo:- Hugo is the five-year-old brother of Amicia, who is sick since birth, and Amicia was given the task to protect him.
Beatrice:- Beatrice is Amicia’s Mother, she is also a talented Alchemist, and she is the one who has been trying to find the cure for Hugo’s sickness.
Robert:- Robert is Amicia’s father and a Nobleman, the Lord of the town and De Rune estate.
Laurentius:- Laurentius is Hugo’s doctor who has been helping Beatrice in finding the cure for Hugo’s sickness.
Lucas:- Lucas is Laurentius apprentice and knew much about Hugo’s sickness, and he decides to flee with Amicia.
Melie:- Milie is another orphan who steals from people along with her brother, she decided to accompany Amicia in her journey when her brother gets captured by the Inquisition.
Arthur:- Arthur is Millie’s brother who steals along with his sister, he gets captured by the Inquisition but get rescued by his sister Millie and met with Amicia and the party with some information.
Rodric:- Rodric is a young Locksmith that meets with Amicia when she went to steal a book that Lucas requested to cure Hugo. He decided to accompany Amicia.
Lord Nicolas:- Captain of the Inquisition guard who killed Amicia’s father, Robert.
Vitalis:- Vitalis is the grand inquisitor who wants something from Hugo and order for the guards to pursue him relentlessly.
Gameplay
In the game, the players assume the role of Amicia, who is equipped with sling-stone, which throws rocks to break drawbridge chains or stun the guards for a few seconds and she can even kill the guards with a headshot. The game is not a combat heavy; the players need to avoid confrontation as much as they can and utilize stealth to get out of the sticky situation instead of engaging in combat.
The players can also use the rats to their advantage sometimes, like stunning the guards and leading the rats towards them to finish them off but the players need to be clear away from the hoard of hungry rats will kill them instantly. One of the main weakness the rats has is fire; the rats will scarcely enter any place within a radius of burning torches.
The game is a series of survival puzzle, mostly consisting of methods to scare away the rats in order to gain access to the new areas or set them on the ruthless knights… She can also craft special ammunition and supplies, which include fire-starting sulfur stones that ignite braziers, stink bombs that attract rats, or fire suppressants to extinguish torches carried by enemies. The players can have control over the younger brother Hugo later in the game when he was cured and have the ability to control the rats on will.

The game was the overall perfect blend of stealth and puzzle gameplay which satisfies the players greatly, The story teaches us the value of family, compassion, care and struggles one has to go through to keep their loved one safe and the will to survive at all cost. The relation between Amicia and Hugo brings tears to many as they cling to each other as they try to survive the plague, the inquisition and the rats that bring plague. They meet some other orphans along the way to escape the Inquisition and uncover the mystery of the plague that devastates medieval France.
All this comes to be a very emotional, but once you get into it, it’s hard to get out of it. Players won’t get bored of this game as they uncover mysteries that leaves then shocked. A plague game: Innocence is very much recommended by us if you are interested in stealth instead of combat then the game is for you. This is one of the best game of 2019 in both story wise and gameplay.
